What is the Schools For Vita Challenge?

The challenge is for you to learn about Vita’s work in Eritrea and Ethiopia and discuss the impact it has on the lives of poor people in these countries and see how you can make a difference. Your school or college will have the opportunity to raise funds for Vita so that current projects can be expanded and new projects can be introduced in order to continue to reduce poverty and renew the environment.

The reward: Two students plus a teacher (if applicable) from three winning schools will go to Ethiopia on an expenses paid trip to learn about the challenges faced by the people there.

Rules of the Challenge

1.The challenge kicks off in February 2009 and ends on May 22nd 2009. How much can you raise! The target is for each school or college to raise at least €2,000.
2.Setting goals for each week of the campaign will help you with your fundraising and a weekly leader-board will show which schools are raising the most money.
3.There will be three winning schools. Prizes will be awarded for most funds raised, most creative fundraising event and highest visibility event.
4.When you hold an event, return your funds to Vita as soon as possible so that your school can be considered for the leader board.
6.All money raised must be turned in online or via mail to Vita by May 29th 2009 to be considered for the challenge.
7.Vita will appoint two external independent judges to choose the winning schools. The judges’ decisions will be final.
8.Once the three winning schools have been announced, they will each submit students’ names who took part in the challenge to be entered into a draw to decide who goes on the trip. Alternatively, the schools may themselves nominate two students plus one teacher to visit Ethiopia.
9.The schools' representatives travelling to Ethiopia must be at least 16 years of age on or before September 30th 2009.
10.Vita’s values are the cornerstone of the organisation. Vita reserves the right to disqualify any fundraiser that is not in line with our values. Please contact us prior to holding a fundraiser if you are unsure that it reflects our values.
